WINTER WONDERLAND!!!

SNOW ANGELS!!! (They looked more like demons, if you ask me)

Coming at you live on Monday, January 6 (bruh), 2025…

and guys…

IT SNOWED TODAY. LIKE A FOOT. I’M NOT EVEN KIDDING.

I thought climate change would forever ruin the best part of winter. I wasn’t sure when the next time would be that I’d see this beautiful and magical white dust (alright don’t get any ideas) blanket my house and neighborhood and backyard forest.

And yet, I woke up this morning to INCHES of snow, the sun still reflecting off the snow even through thick clouds.

This photo looks like it was shot with a DSi, sorry

I didn’t have the day off, considering I work remotely, but it sure felt like a snow day. I couldn’t help but smile all day and say “it snowed! It SNOWED!!!” as I pranced around my house, keeping warm by the fireplace. I was counting down the minutes until I could log off and jump headfirst into (shoveling) the snow. I bundled up all nice and warm in wool socks and wool layers and my ski pants and my legendary pink jacket, stuffing my waterproof camera in my zipper pocket, and I made my way outside.

As I opened up the front door, I was blasted with air that was about to freeze the water running down my nostrils. It smelled like a proper winter, like it was snowing (if you know, you know). I shoveled and shoveled, had the “annual” (snow-dependent) snowball fight with my family as a reward. We ran around chasing each other, pummeling each others backs and heads with snowballs and some ice rockets. We then made our way into the backyard for snow angels. I joined my brothers in flailing my arms and legs around on the ground, looking up at the tree branches above me swaying in the wind. I was entranced, grateful, present. It was a beautiful moment.

Subsequently, we began our snowmen construction, though my poor snowman was roasted into oblivion by my family.

Me and mfing uhhhh…. uhhhh…. I didn’t name him… which is odd….

Although, they still continued to pose with him.

Can you tell I have no effing idea how to build a snowman?

Which reminds of this picture from my childhood…

Not much has changed, eh?

We continued playing in the powder, sliding down the deck steps as if it we were sledding, and finished off the snowy activities with hot cocoa and a movie by the fireplace (Blade Runner 2049. Spoiler alert: I fell asleep).

All that to say, I’m grateful for days like these. I’m grateful for snow, I’m grateful for moments with my family like today, I’m grateful for little things that have so much more grandeur than meets the eye. I couldn’t have asked for a better day.

In bed now, the moon is nowhere in sight behind these snow clouds, but there is so much light in my room. I feel serene, I feel at peace.

And I hope you do too!

XO,
